• Role of the project in reducing the road transportation damages
          Road weather information system is responsible for collecting, storage and processing the data, measured by sensors. Atmospheric sensors record the temperature, barometric pressure, wind direction and speed, relative humidity, visibility and current weather phenomena, type and amount of precipitation; and road sensors measure the road surface and depth temperature, the covering amount of ice and snow on the road and dryness or wetness of the road surface.
          Data from weather stations and road sensors are brought together and generate an advance weather-road information system and road-weather numerical prediction models that lead to issue specific weather forecasting and road meteorology announcements and warnings along the routes on: wind direction and severity, atmospheric systems causing precipitation (including frozen precipitation such as snow, hail and ... or liquid precipitation), areas of storms with lightning and other destructive phenomena.
          In addition, issuing warnings on destructive weather phenomena along the routes of vehicles, road surface freezing, melting speed of snow in the mountains and avalanche risk, severity of winds over the bridges and different phenomena that are effective in reducing visibility and also flood and frozen road surface forecasting are of the precious information in which the system makes available for users and in particular authorities.
          Other advantages of installation and operation of Road Meteorology Stations are as follows:
          -          Determine the exact time of the start of winter road maintenance operations,
          -          Provide Information about the sorts of annual road maintenance and traffic control,
          -          Issue warnings and prevent drivers from driving in various communicational routes,
          -          Automatic weather warnings announcements and information,
          -          Prepare Information on road surface temperature at certain areas,
          -          Salt scattering network installation capability at critical situations by using weather-road information,
          -          Climatic data preparation about the conditions of different regions for precise planning against the blizzard,
          -          Provide travelling information for the public and reduce the number of accidents and travelling time,
          -          And at the end, reduce environmental risks of using salt on the roads.
